Port of Corpus Christi wins praise for project cargo training support
The Port of Corpus Christi, on the western Gulf of
Mexico, has won praise from the largest dedicated project cargo
organisation in the world for its support of specialist training for
heavy-lift freight forwarders.
The Project Professionals Group’s
(PPG) 3PL network is represented in over 100 countries and will run a
training program as part of the education component for attendees at the
21st Annual JoC Breakbulk Americas Transportation Conference and
Exhibition.
PPG general manager Kevin Stephens said the Port of
Corpus Christi had agreed to be a sponsor of the Certificate of
Achievement in Project Cargo Management that will be offered over two
days from October 14-15 as part of Breakbulk Americas.
“The Port
of Corpus Christi is to be congratulated for supporting much-needed
industry training that is designed to help meet the skills shortfall for
experienced project cargo managers around the world,” Stephens said.
“Improving
training and education in the project cargo sector is in everyone’s
best interest from clients to international freight forwarders and their
transportation partners.”
Stephens said the facilities at the
Port of Corpus Christi provided an excellent gateway to and from the
United States for over dimensional cargos.
